Responsibilities
Gathers meter reading data to process and prepare accurate customer bills.
Tracks and coordinates the processing of meter installations and meter replacements.
Monitors, verifies and corrects discrepancies for Accounts Receivable; performs routine clerical and accounting work.
Responsible for processing and preparing bills; managing reading systems; posts daily cash receipt journals; also balances security deposits and generates reports for customer service totals, meter reading routine work, and meter routes.
Coordinates with the meter reading department regarding the scheduling of routes to be read, bench tests, and rereads; tracks meter installation and electronic meter replacement and performs data entry.
Processes and ensures accuracy of customer billing; manages and prepares the meter reading system (both handheld and mobile collector), verifies reading journals, calculates and updates bills; determines unbilled accounts and adds to billing register; prepares the bills for outsource printing and mailing.
Addresses billing concerns with customers; adjusts accounts due to incorrect meter readings, data entry errors as directed by supervisor.
Handles various mailings to customers relating to bills, notices, and other types of correspondence.
Generates reports for meter reading routine work, meter routes, rereads, and missed reads.
Assists Customer Service as needed with phone calls, posting service orders (turn‑ons, turn‑offs and transfers) for final bills.
Position reports to the Customer Services Database & Systems Supervisor for planning, scheduling and general matters.
Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Vocational/Technical Degree required with training emphasis in Accounting; supplemented by one (1) to two (2) years previous experience and/or training that includes accounting, customer service, and computer work; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, payroll software, and Advances CIS Infinity.
