Billing Specialist
Join Mount Pleasant Waterworks to help manage accurate billing and meter reading.
Responsibilities
Gather and process meter reading data to prepare customer bills.
Coordinate meter installations and replacements, track installation progress, and perform data entry.
Monitor, verify, and correct billing discrepancies for Accounts Receivable; perform routine clerical and accounting work.
Post daily cash receipt journals, balance security deposits, and generate reports for customer service totals, meter reading routine work, and meter routes.
Assist Customer Service with phone calls and post service orders for final bills.
Communicate billing concerns to customers and adjust accounts for incorrect meter readings and data entry errors.
Handle various customer mailings including bills, notices, and other correspondence.
Generate reports for meter reading routine work, meter routes, rereads, and missed reads.
Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
Vocational/Technical Degree with training emphasis in accounting; supplemented by 1–2 years previous experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (Billing Specialist I).
Vocational/Technical Degree with training emphasis in accounting; supplemented by 3–5 years previous experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (Billing Specialist II).
Strong oral, written, and electronic communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and vendors/agencies.
Computer skills proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, payroll software, and Advances CIS Infinity.
Salary Range Billing Specialist I: $47,368 - $70,542 Billing Specialist II: $52,105 - $77,596
