A precision aerospace machine shop is hiring a senior‑leaning CNC Machinist to strengthen and stabilize its turning department in Peekskill, NY. This role goes far beyond running parts. Management and Manufacturing CNC Machinist Responsibilities
Set up and run CNC lathes and mills with a strong focus on the turning department Diagnose and resolve setup issues, production inconsistencies, and mid‑run changes Work in a high‑mix, low‑volume aerospace environment with tight tolerances Troubleshoot machine challenges independently and keep jobs moving efficiently Interpret prints, specs, and quality requirements with precision Collaborate with leads, operations, and quality to maintain workflow and standards Mentor or guide other machinists as experience and leadership allow Contribute ideas to improve processes, consistency, and shop performance CNC Machinist Requirements
3+ years of CNC machining experience in a production environment Strong experience with lathes and turning operations Aerospace or high‑precision machining background strongly preferred Experience with Mazak machines is highly preferred Familiar with Mazak, Nakamura‑Tome, Emco/Fanuc, and/or gear grinding equipment Solid machining fundamentals: setup, tooling, feeds and speeds, problem diagnosis Ability to work independently without constant supervision Willingness to learn, adapt, and take responsibility in a fast‑moving shop Programming experience is a plus, but not required Benefits
