Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III - New Glenn Stage 2 (Fixed-Term) Join Blue Origin as an Avionics Cable Harness Design Engineer III for New Glenn Stage 2 on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

As part of the New Glenn Rocket program, coworkers play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and qualifying avionics hardware to support human‑capable launch vehicles.

In this role you will directly contribute to the planning, selection, development, sourcing, and acceptance of avionics hardware for the next generation of launch vehicles. You will collaborate closely with GNC, electrical, mechanical, software, systems engineering, configuration & data management, and assembly, integration & test teams to ensure hardware components meet requirements and perform as expected. Troubleshooting and resolving hardware‑related issues during production, integration, and post‑flight phases will also be part of your responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high‑speed data signal.

Select harness components and hardware – connectors, backshells, cable and wire.

Apply EMI/RFI analysis and harness shielding techniques.

Create 3‑D routed harness data files using Creo (Pro/Engineer) Cabling and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Produce harness detail and installation drawings, including 2‑D flat harness drawings derived from the 3‑D data sets.

Design and integrate harness support brackets.

Support design configuration development and trade studies.

Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.

Assist the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.

Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical status.

Identify opportunities for improvements and operational cost and schedule savings.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

7+ years of experience designing wire harnesses for the aerospace industry.

Experience with Creo, Windchill and Routed System Designer (RSD).

Understanding and application of wire derating analysis.

Familiarity with harness standards IPC/WHMA‑A‑620A and NASA‑STD‑8739.4.

Strong electrical/mechanical design and integration skills using 3‑D CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Pro/E Piping.

Experience with other high‑end CAD routing software such as Unigraphics NX Electrical and Mechanical Routing.

Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes.

Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems.

Compensation CA applicants: $126,898.00–$177,656.85; CO applicants: $116,323.00–$162,851.85; WA applicants: $126,898.00–$177,656.85.
