Role Overview Kean University in Union, New Jersey is a comprehensive institution of higher education serving more than 18,000 undergraduate and graduate students. We host a diverse range of programs through six colleges, including the College of Business and Public Management, the College of Education, and the Dorothy and George Hennings College of Science, Mathematics and Technology. The university is also a higher education innovator partnering with community colleges to increase access to bachelor’s degrees.

We are inviting Adjunct Faculty applications for upcoming semesters in General Education Math. Positions are filled on an as‑needed basis; eligible candidates may be contacted when an opening becomes available.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate general‑education math courses in‑person at the Union campus, including Basic Algebra, Statistics, Foundations of Math, and Problem Solving.

Lead supplemental learning instructional sessions with students as required.

Implement student‑centered teaching methodologies such as small‑group instruction, flipped‑classroom design, cooperative, inquiry, and project‑based learning.

Provide the required faculty availability (at least 1 hour per week for a 3‑ or 4‑credit class; at least ½ hour per week for a 1‑ or 2‑credit class). Availability may be in person or virtual.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other acceptable doctoral degree are encouraged to apply.

Proficiency in a Learning Management System consistent with University guidelines.

Compensation

Effective September 2024: $1,975 per credit.

Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.

Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.

Beginning in their 13th semester taught, Adjuncts receive an additional $75 per credit.
