Senior Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist Location
Fairmont, NE Job Summary
Lead the environmental, health, and safety programs at a POET bioprocessing facility. Serve as the primary interface with government agencies and internal teams to ensure a culture that prioritizes environmental compliance, safety, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities
Champion safety and environmental culture at the facility, influencing behavior through leadership and training. Act as the primary liaison between the facility and regulatory agencies. Serve as local expert on environmental compliance issues including permits, hazardous waste, stormwater, RMP, SPCC, and applicable state/federal requirements. Recommend solutions to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and improve sustainability. Generate, analyze & submit daily, weekly, monthly, and annual safety and environmental reports. Lead incident investigations, audits, and training for employees and contractors. Maintain permit-required recordkeeping and training documentation. Lead facility safety committee meetings and maintain safety committee records. Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, or engineering, or 8+ years of EH&S experience preferred. National Safety Council’s Advanced Safety Certificate required; higher-level certifications acceptable (Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Professional Engineer). Demonstrated influential leadership skills that have driven cultural EH&S improvements. Proficiency in filing, documentation, record keeping, and organization. Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Benefits & Perks
