Accounting Specialist
A privately held industrial manufacturer in northern Indiana is expanding its finance operations and seeking a detail‑oriented Accounting Specialist to support its transition to a fully independent accounting structure. This is a hands‑on role based on‑site, reporting directly to a member of the finance team. The position plays a key role in managing incoming and outgoing financial transactions, maintaining vendor and customer records, and supporting internal teams with billing and payment resolution.
Responsibilities
Evaluate client creditworthiness using third‑party data and internal payment history.
Maintain customer profiles and ensure accurate ledger entries.
Apply incoming payments and reconcile discrepancies across aging reports.
Partner with sales and service teams to resolve invoice disputes and ensure timely collections.
Review and code supplier invoices, verifying against purchase documentation.
Maintain vendor records, including exemption certificates and payment terms.
Liaise with suppliers to resolve payment issues and clarify account status.
Track open orders and invoices to prevent supply chain delays.
Execute scheduled and ad‑hoc disbursements in coordination with finance.
Essential Skills
3+ years of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) experience.
Proficiency in MS Excel.
Experience with any ERP/Accounting software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
A degree in a related field.
Experience in the manufacturing industry.
Work Environment The position is based on‑site in northern Indiana, with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Goshen, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 – $26.00 per hour.
