Department of Mental Health Billing Manager
Century Group is partnering with a client that is seeking a Department of Mental Health Billing Manager to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $75,000 to $90,000 per year.
Job Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a two-person billing team while managing workflow and assigning duties.
Oversee all billing operations, including claim submission for 1500 and UB04 forms, payment posting, A/R follow up, and denial resolution.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, HIPAA, and Los Angeles County DMH billing regulations.
Utilize Electronic Health Record and billing software daily, with preference for experience using the Welligent EHR system.
Monitor key billing metrics, identify operational improvements, and prepare reports for leadership review.
Requirements
Display strong organizational skills to manage competing billing priorities effectively.
Communicate clearly with internal teams and external agencies to resolve billing issues.
Adapt quickly to regulatory changes and updates in DMH billing standards.
Utilize advanced problem‑solving abilities to address claim rejections and optimize workflows.
Collaborate with cross‑functional departments to support overall revenue cycle performance.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in healthcare billing or finance.
5+ years of experience in medical or behavioral health billing with specialization in Medi-Cal and Medicare.
Maintain strong knowledge of CPT and ICD‑10 coding requirements and relevant regulatory standards.
Apply proven supervisory capabilities and analytical problem‑solving skills.
Hold CMRS or CPC certification or be willing to obtain one.
