Mission
The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is one of the executive branch agencies of the State of New Mexico. Our mission is to ensure health equity; we work with our partners to promote health and well-being and improve health outcomes for all people in New Mexico. The Grants program is within the Center of Public Health Operations (CPHO) which is within the NMDOH. The mission of the Center for Public Health Operations is to partner with the various programs with grant related work. The CPHO values are centered on positive relationships, accountability, respect and excellence.
Why does the job exist?
This position collaborates with key program staff to identify and implement strategies to track grant expenditures, deadlines and deliverables. The position supports the planning, implementation, and evaluation of grant tracking. The grants manager provides reports as needed to Sr. leadership.
Responsibilities
Assisting the PHD staff with administrative tasks including attending meetings taking minutes and following up with communications.
Supporting special projects within the grants section.
Developing and monitoring contractor and staff projects.
Developing and/or revising grant training materials.
Conducting grant presentations.
Providing technical assistance to contractors and other partners.
Providing leadership, support, coordination, and collaboration.
Who are the customers?
Public Health staff members, contractors and the citizens of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate
Experience in and knowledge of public health principles and approaches, in particular as they relate to grants.
Outstanding communication and writing skills.
Experience coordinating and collaborating with various groups on grant planning, implementation, and tracking.
Experience working to achieve high quality outcomes.
Experience working with multiple groups with numerous deadlines.
Minimum Qualification Associate degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Finance, or a related field and three (3) years of experience with a public assistance program, medical, healthcare, educational, or state facility working with policies and procedures, conducting analysis/research, providing or requesting information from the general public, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling five (5) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certification from the State of New Mexico, or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Ability to meet numerous deadlines.
