Job Summary The HR Representative supports a variety of human‑resources activities and provides administrative support, ensuring quality customer service and both timely and accurate delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities

Process standard bi‑weekly and monthly payroll/timesheets, address common timesheet/leave issues, return timesheets/leave requests as needed, and process routine pay adjustments.

Assist with tracking of FMLA, PLFA, or other managed leave categories, and report significant leave discrepancies to higher‑level staff for research.

Inform staff of basic regulations/policies relating to leave usage, time reporting, and payroll deadlines.

Maintain and update appropriate records, communicating with employees, supervisors, and others to obtain needed information.

Run and review routine reports, compile information with responsibility for accurate data entry, and correct minor discrepancies.

Contribute to documentation and compliance efforts as assigned, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and procedures.

Respond to customer inquiries according to established guidelines.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years (24 months) of relevant experience combined from:

Coursework in human‑resource administration, business administration or a closely related field, measured by the following conversion table:

30 semester hours equals one year (12 months).

Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months).

90 semester hours equals two years (24 months).

Progressively more responsible work experience maintaining, monitoring, and/or processing human‑resource records and reports.

Ability to provide customer service to a broad range of clients.

Ability to pivot quickly between tasks and stay organized.

Effective time‑management skills.

Strong communication skills with others.

Professional interaction with diverse internal and external constituents.

Attention to detail.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all business matters.

Commitment to creating an inclusive environment.

Knowledge of university and campus HR policies.

Ability to learn and adapt to multiple technology platforms quickly.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).

Appointment Information This is a 100% full‑time Civil Service 2135 – Human Resource Representative position, appointed on a 12‑month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline. The budgeted salary range is $45,000 – $53,000. The position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (remote work and in‑person work in Champaign‑Urbana each week) after an initial on‑site training period, per the University of Illinois workplace flexibility guidelines. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available.
