The Senior Accountant is a key member of the corporate accounting team and plays a critical role in the monthly close, financial reporting, and continuous improvement of our accounting processes. This role is hands‑on and detail‑oriented, with direct ownership of complex reconciliations, journal entries, and analyses across multiple entities, product lines, and locations.

Duties and Responsibilities: Month‑End Close & Financial Reporting

Own and perform key areas of the month‑end close process, including preparation of complex journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Prepare and review supporting schedules for inventory, COGS, fixed assets, payroll, and other significant accounts.

Assist with consolidation of multiple entities and preparation of monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.

Analyze variances to budget, forecast, and prior periods; investigate and explain key drivers to finance leadership.

Inventory Accounting

Support accurate recording of manufacturing costs, including labor, overhead, and bill of materials (BOMs).

Perform inventory reconciliations between the ERP, sub‑ledgers, and the general ledger; research and resolve discrepancies.

Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement

Maintain and enhance documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Support external financial audits, bank compliance reporting, and other third‑party requests by preparing PBC schedules and responding to inquiries.

Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and standardize accounting processes (e.g., close calendar, reconciliations, recurring entries).

Assist with system enhancements and ERP projects (such as new modules, reports, or configurations).

Cross‑Functional Support & Ad Hoc Projects

Collaborate with FP&A on forecasting, budgeting support, and ad hoc financial analyses.

Provide accounting support for new products, customers, contracts, and business initiatives (e.g., new co‑manufacturing arrangements, new facilities, or capital projects).

Perform special projects as requested by the Controller, CFO, or senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, public accounting experience a plus.

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and the full general ledger close process.

Demonstrated experience with balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement support.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (e.g., lookups, pivot tables, SUMIFS, basic modeling).

Experience working with mid‑ to large‑scale ERPs (e.g., SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Aspen Canopy, or similar).

Excellent attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work with large data sets.

Strong organizational and time‑management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non‑finance partners.

CPA or progress toward CPA licensure.

Prior experience in food manufacturing, meat processing, or consumer packaged goods.

Experience participating in ERP implementations, upgrades, or significant system/process changes.
