Shift & Compensation Available Shift: 1st – Monday to Friday from 6:00 am – 2:30 pm Starting Pay: $25.35/hr. Pay increases at 90‑day and 6‑month anniversaries.
Position Summary The Material Controller will be responsible for moving product to maintain appropriate flow through production areas. The incumbent will receive, issue, and physically move material in an efficient and timely manner.
Essential Functions
Provides accurate and timely documentation of material and product movement to ensure inventory system accuracy and physical inventory organization.
Interprets production plans and shipping orders to provide required levels of material handling and shipping.
Completes regular cycle counts under accounting guidelines to ensure accuracy in IFS.
Works promptly and efficiently to deliver on‑time product without errors.
Uses forklifts and overhead cranes to assist in loading, unloading, and moving materials and product.
Other Important Details About the Role
Regularly assesses and updates priorities to avoid production lapses.
Inspects forklift daily per TPM guidelines.
Performs additional duties as directed by leaders and management.
Actively participates in department safety and demonstrates excellent safety practices in accordance with Valmont policies.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 1 year of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment (desired).
Prior forklift and overhead crane experience.
Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with job‑related programs.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a manufacturing‑related field.
Leads by example and earns respect and trust of co‑workers, customers, and stakeholders.
Good understanding of priorities and balance of short‑term and long‑term requirements.
Communicates opening and honesty in a clear, concise manner on an ongoing basis.
Working Environment and Physical Efforts This position requires work both indoors and outdoors in all weather seasons. Safety glasses with side shields, safety shoes, and hearing protection are required. Duties may involve reaching with hands and arms, frequent keyboard use, and occasionally getting on/off heavy machinery. The incumbent may need to bend or twist and lift, pull, or move up to 50 pounds.
