Job Summary This role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Intermountain Health Population Health Student Scholars program. The position oversees program administration, budget management, and long‑term planning while fostering collaboration with key stakeholders. It drives initiatives in admissions, recruitment, financial aid, curriculum support, mentorship, and program evaluation to deliver a high‑quality experience for students and mentors. Additionally, the role manages communications and reporting to enhance program visibility and accountability. By coordinating complex logistics and expanding opportunities, this position plays a critical role in advancing population health education and supporting organizational goals.
Responsibilities
Design and implement one or more programs for the university that carry out the organization’s mission.
Set goals for each program and determine benchmarks for success.
Ensure that programs and services reflect the needs and expectations of the community.
Collect and respond to feedback from members, volunteers, and staff to improve future programs/services.
May include fundraising, budgeting, and community outreach.
May manage special events that publicize the organization and its programs.
Program oversight & coordination: oversee daily operations and coordinate activities for the Intermountain Health Population Health Student Scholars program.
Manage program budget and support short‑, medium‑, and long‑term objectives.
Support program components including admissions & recruitment; financial aid; communications; curriculum; mentorship; and evaluation.
Provide administrative and logistical support including scheduling meetings, seminars, and other program‑related functions.
Communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders within SFESOM & Intermountain Health.
Expand program opportunities to the new Southern Utah Regional Medical Campus (SURMC).
Admissions and recruitment: collaborate with the admissions department on program application processes and ensure a full applicant pool.
Support and organize materials for the program selection committee and serve as point of contact for prospective applicants.
Financial aid: collaborate with the financial aid team, meet with students annually for required documentation, and track standing.
Communications: manage program communications, including social media and monthly newsletter, and develop promotional materials.
Develop, communicate, and disseminate end‑of‑year program reporting.
Curriculum: support graduate certificate directors, manage PHS courses on university IT platforms, schedule guest speaker logistics.
Mentorship: support and communicate with mentors, onboard new mentors, facilitate student‑mentor pairings.
Evaluation: conduct comprehensive end‑of‑year reporting, monitor program quality, research and develop improvement methods, analyze student feedback.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Equivalency Statement:
1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Program Specialists, IV: Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 8 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 6 years of directly related work experience.
Preferences
Familiarity with administration in higher education and/or background or knowledge of healthcare administration, undergraduate medical education, and/or graduate medical education.
Demonstrated experience in program development and project management skills.
High level of project coordination to effectively lead and deliver robust programs and initiatives.
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to work well and effectively with others.
Strong ability to adapt to day‑to‑day program needs.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve outcomes is essential.
Ability to attend in‑person events and activities in Salt Lake City, Utah.
