Summary The Quality Control Manager strives for continuous improvement through inter-departmental cross‑functionality. Successfully overseeing all aspects of quality control—including quarry mining, raw material sourcing and handling, laboratory testing, compliance, and shipping—under the direction of the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.

Manage the Quarry, Laboratory, and Shipping/Raw Materials Supervisors within the Quality Control Department.

Provide leadership and direction in EH&S and Quality to ensure these elements are integrated into day‑to‑day operations.

Work with management to develop short‑ and long‑term business goals and performance objectives, directing resources as necessary.

Review departmental performance against budget, operating plans, and capital‑project status, holding supervisors accountable.

Foster a positive work environment that maximizes staff potential.

Participate in escalated human‑resources activities.

Implement ongoing education, training, and development for key personnel, including quality hiring, succession planning, and workforce planning.

Communicate information timely and regularly with direct reports and other plant stakeholders.

Lead initiatives to sustain Ash Grove’s culture, focusing on customer orientation, EH&S, employee relations, cost control, and community engagement.

Collaborate with Production Management to address concerns and recommend proactive improvements.

Evaluate potential use of alternative raw materials in the cement manufacturing process.

Maintain close relationships with Sales & Marketing and customers.

Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Ability to read, understand, and interpret warning labels, instructions, signs, and related documentation.

Minimum 4 years (plus a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, chemistry, biology, geology, or a related field).

Graduate degree in the same fields preferred.

Minimum 7 years of industry experience with managerial responsibilities.

Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
