Job Summary The Associate Category Manager will act as Walmart’s category expert by providing best in class category and shopper insights and actionable go‑to‑market recommendations. This individual will be responsible for analysing various data sources, identifying business insights, and recommending solutions that drive profitable category growth.

In this non‑NDA position, the Associate Category Manager will work closely with the Walmart merchant team and Newell sales team to develop and grow total category sales by leveraging syndicated data, shopper and consumer insights, category, and industry trends. The Associate Category Manager works as a strategic thought leader, imparting knowledge of the category and shopper to drive profitable business results.

Responsibilities

Act as the subject matter expert for Walmart and the assigned category, providing thought leadership and guidance to both internal stakeholders and external customer partners.

Leverage syndicated and shopper data to inform decision‑making and identify growth opportunities.

Generate weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting to provide actionable insights that drive profitable category growth.

Influence joint business planning by leveraging business drivers and cross‑functional learnings (Category Development, Consumer Insight, Sales Planning, etc.).

Develop assortment, shelving, and merchandising recommendations to support the Walmart line review process.

Monitor omnichannel trends and shopper behaviours (e.g., site‑to‑store, store‑to‑store) to identify new opportunities.

Develop and deliver compelling presentations to internal leadership and Walmart stakeholders (e.g., business reviews, line reviews, deep dives, etc.).

Key Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree preferred (emphasis in business/marketing or related field)

2+ years of experience working with a leading consumer goods company (Category Management, Shopper Insights or related position)

1-2 years experience in category management on national retailer preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of category management philosophies, tools and processes and proven record of success

Ability to build strong sustainable working relationships with the customer, and cross‑functionally within Newell (Sales, Brand and Insights)

Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

Familiarity with syndicated data metrics and software (e.g., Circana (NPD/IRI), Nielsen, Numerator)

Experience analyzing retailer data (Scintilla experience required)

Strategic thinking, self‑starter with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with aggressive deadlines

Proven ability to analyse and identify insights from a combination of data sources

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong project management, follow‑up, organisational, communication and presentation skills
