Department: Powders Processing (Shift 7a-7p) Reports To: Processing Supervisor
Job Summary Process Operator assists the Control Room Operator (CRO) in operations of all powders processing lines. The operator’s main responsibility is to manage all field operations for the department.
Essential Functions
Troubleshoots and corrects operating problems discovered during routine tours or under direction of CRO.
Perform operations involving use or transfer of strong corrosive acid and understand safety implications.
Unplug chutes, pipes, tanks and the like as needed.
Fills out check sheets on line equipment after formal inspections.
Abides by Powders QMS (Quality Management System).
Understands processing specifications and collects and analyzes samples per requirements including data entry.
Performs routine cleaning activities in the field.
Moves materials such as solid acid within the plant using a forklift.
Unloads bulk rail cars.
Starts and stops equipment from the field under direction of CRO.
Provides short‑term relief to operator and monitors process from control room during these periods.
Locks out equipment from field.
Other Duties And Responsibilities As Assigned
Participate in improvement activities.
Experience & Qualifications
Must meet assessment requirements for this position.
Basic mechanical skills (hand tools, tape measure, caulking gun, etc.).
Ability to read and visually monitor electronic equipment and control panels.
Ability to read product specifications, SOPs, PWI, AIQ processes, and similar documents.
Must understand all safety requirements and other communications.
Strong communication skills.
Basic computer skills; ability to open programs, navigate network, enter information electronically, and save electronic forms.
Physical: stand for full shift; lift 50 lbs; bend, reach, twist, stoop, walk, climb stairs and ladders; climb ladders up to 100 ft.
Communication by radio.
Participation in cleanup activities for full shift duration.
Work shifts flexibility.
Wear dust mask and hearing protection; work in dusty, hot, cold, humid environments.
Meet all physical requirements of the position.
