Program Aide (NY HELPS) Office: NYS Office of Children and Family Services

Pay Range: $53,413/year - $65,061/year

Responsibilities

Perform paraprofessional duties and provide program and technical assistance for one or more positions.

Prepare routine correspondence, collect and analyze data, assist in preparation, review and evaluation of reports and records.

Make routine determinations of compliance with agency rules and regulations.

Train and supervise subordinate staff.

Additional duties will be discussed during the interview.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or an eligible title for transfer.

Open to the Public: Title part of NY HELPS Limited Placement Statewide Program.

Three years of experience performing clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional work in an office environment.

Additional Comments

Title may be filled via non-competitive appointment. No examination required but all candidates must meet minimum qualifications.

Within one year of permanent appointment, non-competitive employment status converts to competitive status without examination.

Employees may participate in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Background Investigation Requirements

Criminal Background Check (CBC) includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. Convictions must be reported; a felony or misdemeanor may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment.

Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR) screening. May be required to pay necessary fees.

Staff Exclusion List (SEL) screening. Names on SEL appear as responsible for serious acts and may bar appointment.
