The lead position is responsible for assisting with daily operations of the hatchery. Responsible for leading all production and technical aspects within the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Must take a proactive role in immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns.
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
Responsible for assisting with training employees, assigning and directing work; appraising performance.
Work in conjunction with maintenance, Quality Assurance and Sanitation to coordinate projects and handle opportunities as they arise.
Perform tasks as designated by the supervisor.
Must be able to communicate effectively with team members both individually and within a group setting.
Must possess strong leadership and problem‑solving skills.
Individuals must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as perform all physical tasks necessary to complete the job successfully.
Education and/Or Experience
High school education preferred but not necessary.
1-3 years’ experience working in a hatchery preferred but not required.
Language Skills Ability to speak English, read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Food Safety Take a proactive role in assuring safe, quality products are produced by immediately addressing any safety or quality concerns and this position serves as the‑up for QA Supervisor position.
