Responsibilities:

Administers and supports daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstations, file servers, and web servers.

Typical duties involve installation of hardware, software, systems upgrades, network accounts, network security, and web page design, interface and updates, and local system design documentation.

Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.

Train staff on software applicable to position, assist customers with information technology, monitor system configuration (hardware and software), and provide instruction on computers and applications.

Provide computer and network operation and maintenance, hardware installations, software installations, reconfigurations, diagnostic testing, systems analysis, troubleshooting, and repair of specified IT networking resources.

Install, configure, test, operate, maintain, and manage network hardware (e.g., switches, routers, cables, and protective distribution systems (PDS)), software, and operating systems that permit sharing of information across full spectrum of transmissions using all media.

Implement and operate network services and systems to include hardware and virtual environments.

Provide system and network administration support, including installation, operations, maintenance, disaster recovery, and administration of standalone workstations/server systems, networked workstations/server systems, and LANs.

Perform additional actions required to support electronic classroom deployment.

Attend meetings and submit associated reports.

Provide phone/email helpdesk support; use incident tracking & solution database.

Install, update, and troubleshoot systems, servers, workstations, and peripherals.

Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software, including Microsoft Windows, Linux, Hewlett Packard (HP) Unix and Solaris.

Diagnose faulty system/server hardware.

Perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.

Manage system/server resources, including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.

Diagnose network connectivity problems.

Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.

Implement new system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards.

Patch network vulnerabilities.

Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.

Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.

Comply with organizational system administration standard operating procedures.

Implement group policies and access control lists to ensure compatibility with organizational standards, business rules, and needs.

Assist in execution of disaster recovery and continuity of operations plans.

Fabricate, install, and relocate network cables for all domain networks.

Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure.

Configure and optimize network devices and software.

Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues.

Manage and maintain directory services.

Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures.

Ensure timely application of security patches for all systems and software.

Maintain baseline system security according to organizational policies.

Manage user accounts, network rights, and system access.

Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.

Provide ongoing network optimization and problem-solving support.

Conduct functional and connectivity testing.

Design group policies and access control lists.

Install, update, and troubleshoot systems and servers.

Monitor and optimize system performance.

Perform system maintenance and component upgrades.

Conduct periodic system checks and data backups.

Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.

Implement and enforce local network usage policies and procedures.

Manage system resources (performance, capacity, availability, etc.).

Oversee installation, implementation, and support of system components.

Diagnose and repair faulty system hardware.

Troubleshoot hardware/software interface and interoperability problems.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies and Industry best practices.

Perform myriad tasks in support of ECR including IT infrastructure setup and sustainment, installation of electronic displays, furniture installs and classroom refresh actions.

Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Four (4) years of system management experience.

Bachelor’s level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems desired but not required.

Requires IAT Level II certification, covered by one of the following: CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+); CompTIA Security; EC-Council Certified Network Defense (CND) v3; Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA); CCNA Security; Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP); GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC); or Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP).

Must maintain a Secret clearance / T3 investigation and be a U.S. citizen.

Cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities

National and international cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies

Organizational IT user security policies (e.g., account management, access control)

Data security standards (PII, PCI, PHI)

System administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques

Software-based computer protection tools (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, antispyware)

Knowledge of transmission records (Bluetooth, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Infrared (IR) transmission, Wi‑Fi, etc.) and jamming techniques
