Job Summary The Structured Cabling Technician II is responsible for monitoring ticketing systems, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to fiber and copper cabling infrastructures. This role includes diagnosing connectivity problems, performing repairs such as cable or switch replacement, and supporting equipment decommissioning and relocation activities. The technician may install or reroute cabling when equipment is moved and will work directly with onsite teams to address and resolve issues. Occasional travel to additional sites may be required. This contract-to-hire position offers opportunities for ongoing skill development and professional growth.

Job Responsibilities

Monitor ticketing systems, respond to assigned tickets, and provide timely troubleshooting for fiber and copper cabling issues

Perform repairs including cable replacement, switch replacement, and patching of cabling systems

Support decommissioning activities, including equipment removal, cabling teardown, and reinstallation in new locations

Install, reroute, or extend cabling as needed when equipment is relocated

Conduct fiber and copper testing using approved tools and procedures

Utilize and operate equipment such as Fluke testers and related diagnostic tools

Collaborate directly with onsite technical teams to resolve infrastructure issues

Travel to nearby sites when required to support operational needs

Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA requirements and proper use of PPE

Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and ensure compliance with technical standards

Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED required

Minimum of 2 years of experience in structured cabling, low‑voltage systems, or related technical work

Experience troubleshooting fiber and copper cabling systems

Familiarity with Corning fiber, CommScope components, and Fluke testing equipment

OSHA 10 certification preferred

Ability to replace or install switches and perform basic network hardware handling

Ability to read and follow technical diagrams and instructions

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to participate in rotating on‑call schedules (approximately one week every two months, dependent on team size)

Education

High school diploma or GED required
