Role Overview
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) systems, including hardware, Oracle Linux, Oracle ILOM, and Grid Infrastructure.
Perform patching and upgrades for ODA bundles, ensuring system stability and compliance.
Administer Linux system, network fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, firewall), and enforce security standards.
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues; coordinate with Oracle Support.
Position Responsibilities
Maintain development, test, and production RDBMS environments.
Plan, install, patch, and upgrade database software, middleware, hardware, and toolsets.
Monitor, tune, and optimize relational databases for performance and reliability.
Develop scripts and automate support processes.
Prepare and administer backups, perform recovery, and manage data integrity.
Collaborate with system administrators for high‑availability and disaster‑recovery procedures.
Provide guidance on database access languages and SQL tuning.
Operate on a scheduled 24‑hour on‑call basis.
Qualifications Level I
High school diploma or GED.
Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline.
3+ years of IT experience in application development or system support.
0–2 years professional experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server RDBMSs.
Proficiency in programming, SQL, and UNIX/WINDOWS OS.
Level II
Minimum of 5 years IT experience in application development or system support.
Minimum of 4 years professional experience with Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience with scheduler (UC4/cron) and application database (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Storms).
Level III
Minimum of 7 years IT experience.
Minimum of 6 years professional experience with Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience with major applications (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS).
Proficiency in Oracle Middleware, Data Modeling and Design.
Senior
Minimum of 10 years IT experience.
Minimum of 9 years professional experience with Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server.
Leadership and project management experience required.
Expertise in Oracle/Microsoft SQL Server Tools, Utilities, Middleware, and Data Modeling.
