Entry Level Desktop Support The Desktop Support Technician serves as the first point of contact for IT-related support, providing Tier 1 assistance for technical issues related to installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading PC hardware and related equipment. This role ensures optimal workstation performance across hardware, software, printing, connectivity, mobile technology, and user setup. A key responsibility is refreshing PCs as part of the asset lifecycle program while delivering a high-quality end‑user computing experience for Milwaukee County employees, contractors, and vendors.

Responsibilities

Provide daily support for PC hardware/software, including Windows 10 and Office 365.

Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and standard images.

Troubleshoot and maintain printers and peripheral devices.

Assist with mobile device troubleshooting.

Document and track incidents and requests in the ticketing system.

Set clear client expectations and adhere to SLAs.

Prioritize and prioritize escalations based on business impact.

Recommend improvements for end‑user support and efficiency.

Maintain knowledge of hardware standards and emerging technologies.

Participate in special projects and on‑call rotation.

Qualifications

6 months to 5 years of experience in Desktop support.

Experience in deploying devices.

On‑the‑fly device repairs.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

Workstation, printer, and peripheral maintenance.

General understanding of client/server environments.

Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Azure AD.

Solid understanding of Microsoft products (Windows OS, Office Suite).

Familiarity with SCCM imaging software.

Preferred certification: CompTIA A+.

Compensation & Benefits Anticipated hourly pay range: $15 - $20. This range is subject to change based on job‑related factors. All full‑time Codeworks employees are eligible to enroll in the company’s medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
