Job Summary
The Electrophysiology Lab is a specialized invasive procedure suite where cardiac electrophysiology procedures are performed on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Electrophysiology Technician is an integral part of the EP team and is responsible for operating the technical equipment used during complex EP procedures. A strong knowledge base that includes experience in a Cardiovascular Lab setting, operation of Mac Lab, endocardial mapping equipment including but not limited to Biosense Webster and Carto, as well as experience with assisting the physician in the scrub role for pacemaker and ICD implant procedures is required. Technical duties include pre/post procedure preparation, operation of EP monitors and computers, maintains inventory control, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
ACLS Certification within 3 months of hire
American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR.
RCES (Registered Electrophysiology Specialist) or RCIS (Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist)
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience/training
1 year work experience as an Electrophysiology Technician
Ability to perform all roles of the EP Scrub Tech.
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology.
Skill to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice.
Ability to set priorities, organize work independently for self and others.
Working knowledge of EP systems equipment.
Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis.
Knowledge of laboratory supplies and their location. Ability to teach safety practices and equipment operational practices.
Ability to provide pre- and post-EP teaching explanations of procedures and emotional support to patients and families.
Ability to participate in implementing standards of patient care.
Ability to participate in establishing policies and procedures and in on-going CQI program.
Ability to provide orientation and instruction to new EP lab staff and teaching to cardiology fellows, nursing students and visitors.
Willingness and ability to work in a cooperative fashion with other staff members.
Demonstrates understanding of and ability to utilize the organization structure to the benefit of the cath lab and the hospital.

American Heart Association (AHA) or UCDH-issued Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
2 years work experience as an Electrophysiology Technician
