The Cleaning Technician is responsible for ensuring critical aerospace and defense components meet stringent cleanliness requirements before assembly or processing. Working inside a controlled FOD mitigation room, the technician operates ultrasonic cleaning equipment, performs IPA flushing of internal and external part surfaces, and handles components using approved tools and contamination-prevention practices. This role includes inspecting parts for cleanliness, documenting all cleaning activities, and maintaining a safe, organized work area. The technician works closely with quality and production teams to support consistent workflow and uphold the company’s high standards for manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Operate ultrasonic cleaning equipment to remove contaminants from parts.
Perform IPA (isopropyl alcohol) flushing and rinsing processes per work instructions.
Handle, load, and unload parts using approved tools and FOD-safe procedures.
Inspect cleaned parts to ensure they meet cleanliness, visual, and quality requirements.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation within the FOD mitigation room, following all contamination-control guidelines.
Document cleaning steps, solution changes, and results according to internal quality procedures.
Follow all safety and environmental requirements when handling chemicals and operating equipment.
Communicate with supervisors, quality inspectors, and production teams to maintain workflow and resolve issues.
Qualifications & Experience
High School (High school diploma) or GED
Experience in manufacturing, cleanroom, finishing, or component-cleaning role (1+ years preferred).
Ability to operate or learn ultrasonic cleaners and similar equipment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness standards.
Ability to follow precise work instructions, procedures, and documentation practices.
Comfortable wearing PPE and working in a FOD-controlled environment.
Preferred:
Experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
Experience handling delicate or sensitive components.
Additional Information
This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
Pay Range: 18.00 - 23.00 hourly. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
