Your Role The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure safe and efficient plant operations. This role supports production by performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment failures in a timely manner, and supporting operations with continuous improvement initiatives involving process control systems.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Accountability

Diagnose and troubleshoot automatic, digitally controlled equipment to ensure continuous and safe operation of plant processes.

Check, calibrate, and maintain plant instrumentation, including critical equipment in the production, utilities and laboratory areas of the site.

Work collaboratively with engineers and maintenance leadership to plan and execute systematic preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems.

Provide technical assistance to both maintenance and production staff during troubleshooting and repair operations.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.

Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.

Support plant startups, shutdowns, and turnaround activities.

Maintain documentation of all work, including calibration records, maintenance logs, and PM checklists.

Utilize a thorough working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems to effectively diagnose interrelated system faults.

Possess a basic understanding of computer networks and a theoretical understanding of PC environments as they relate to industrial control systems.

Perform on‑line and off‑line programming across a broad range of PLC platforms and processor‑based systems.

Adhere to all applicable EHS and cGMP regulations.

Adhere to personal moral, ethical, legal, & behavioral conduct in compliance with the Siegfried Code of Conduct.

Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Associate degree or technical diploma in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or related field.

Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment. Experience with troubleshooting & repairing mechanical malfunctions in general is a plus.

Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and process instrumentation.

Preferred experience with DCS and PLC systems.

Preferred knowledge of hazardous area classifications and intrinsic safety.

Familiarity with CMMS.

Preferred certification in industrial electrical and industrial instrumentation.

Must be capable of reading isometric drawings, as well as P&ID/s single line diagrams, and loop sheets.

Other Requirements

Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a cross‑functional team.

Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

High attention to detail and safety‑conscious mindset.

Proficiency with test equipment (multimeters, loop calibrators, meggers).

Must be available for call‑outs, shift work, and occasional overtime or weekend work.

Must be able to climb stairs and handle parts weighing up to 55 lbs.

Recent experience with new and state‑of‑the‑art instrumentation equipment is a plus.

Certifications

ISA Certified Control Systems Technician (CCST)

Journeyman or Master Electrician License

OSHA 30, NFPA 70E training
