Location: Bank division location across nine-state footprint (AZ, CO, ID, MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, WY). Entry rate is $59,461.97+ per year (Kalispell, MT). WA applicants: $64,767.56 to $97,151.34 per year.

Summary

The Financial Risk Analyst I leverages quantitative expertise, financial acumen, and data governance skills to support key risk management functions across Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Model Risk Management (MRM) and reports to the Financial Risk Manager.

Responsible for preparing and analyzing the Bank's quarterly Risk Appetite Statement, Peer Bank Performance Reports, Department KRI/KPI Reports, Economic Indicator Report and other critical risk analytics to drive strategic decision‑making.

Provides briefings and risk analyses to executive leadership, the Board, risk oversight committees and supports associated governance and frameworks of the Bank's enterprise risk reporting.

Assists with testing and documenting non‑model tools and helps develop challenger models for model validations, exploring and analyzing various business lines and functions throughout the bank.

Operates as primary second line of defense oversight, ensuring proper risk mitigation of activities undertaken by the first line of defense.

Ensures compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act and the Office of Foreign Assets Control; completes assigned online training courses and achieves passing scores by the due date.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, statistics, mathematics or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 0–2 years of relevant experience in financial risk analysis, model validation, or related field.

Technical skills: Proficiency in statistical or data analysis software (e.g., SAS, R, Python, SQL) and familiarity with model risk frameworks.

Analytical skills: Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

Communication skills: Ability to present findings in written reports and verbal presentations to senior management and board members.

Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
