Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley is searching for a dynamic Recruitment & Marketing Specialist to help us connect caring mentors with the hundreds of children waiting for a positive role model in their lives.
Our Mission Big Brothers Big Sisters creates and supports 1:1 mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Through our work, children achieve higher aspirations, greater confidence, better relationships, avoidance of risky behaviors, and educational success. As a proud affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America—the nation's largest volunteer‑supported mentoring network—we deliver evidence‑based mentoring services backed by over 120 years of impact.
The Opportunity This flexible position (15–35 hours/week) offers the chance to directly impact your community while building meaningful relationships and expanding your professional skills. You'll work closely with our CEO and program team to grow our mentor base, amplify our mission, and ensure every child on our waitlist gets the support they deserve.
Hours and scope of work will flex based on your background, interests, and aptitude—particularly in areas like fundraising event marketing and corporate partner engagement.

What You’ll Do
Build partnerships with local clubs, organizations, and corporate groups to recruit volunteer mentors.
Present at churches, businesses, fraternities, and community events to inspire new mentors.
Set up recruitment tables at community events and festivals.
Host mentor mingles that celebrate current volunteers and welcome prospective mentors.
Coordinate lunch‑and‑learn sessions with corporate employee groups.
Collaborate with CEO and board to develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies.
Marketing & Communications
Launch and manage brand awareness campaigns across social media platforms.
Create compelling graphics, flyers, and promotional materials for recruitment and fundraising events.
Schedule and post engaging social media content that grows our following.
Capture photos and videos at events to share our impact.
Contribute to organizational newsletters.
Communicate sponsorship opportunities with corporate partners.
Strategic Development & Evaluation
Evaluate and improve volunteer engagement processes.
Track and report on recruitment outcomes and brand awareness metrics.
Work with program staff to ensure seamless volunteer engagement.
Assess current communication strategies and implement improvements.
Required Qualifications
Commitment to our mission of empowering youth through mentoring.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to inspire and engage diverse audiences.
Strong organizational skills and results‑driven mindset.
Proficiency with social media platforms and basic graphic design tools like Canva.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for community events.
Must pass background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in sales, marketing, or recruitment.
Background in nonprofit organizations or volunteer management.
Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, or similar platforms.
Public speaking or presentation experience.
