Job Description:

The Information Technology Specialist 4 will work as a proactive member of the dedicated ITS service delivery team, serving as a subject matter expert on DHSES‑specific Client Compute (WPS) needs, and supervising a team of technicians and interns that support DHSES.

Responsibilities

Work as a proactive member of the dedicated ITS service delivery team.

Become a knowledgeable subject matter expert on DHSES‑specific Client Compute (WPS) needs.

Supervise a team of workplace services technicians and interns, supporting DHSES.

Collaborate with colleagues to improve service to the client agency.

Manage team organizational tasks, including performance reviews, training, and staff management activities.

Review and assign ITSM system incident and request tickets within the designated assignment group.

Perform supervisory responsibilities as applicable.

Provide direction to staff for fielding and servicing desktop support calls.

Monitor ITSM work queues to ensure timely resolution of client requests.

Collaborate with counterparts in other regional areas as workload dictates.

Install, load, and configure software and applications.

Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance to clients.

Obtain base knowledge of core products used by supported clients.

Document diagnostic steps taken to troubleshoot or resolve client issues.

Work with other ITS groups to resolve computer‑related issues.

Install, configure, and troubleshoot multi‑function and network printers.

Work with vendor support to resolve technical problems with agency IT equipment.

Train and orient users on hardware and software where appropriate.

Provide on-site technical assistance to clients.

Define project scope and timeframe for subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, SG25 OR in a position at the SG23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.

If you are on the examination eligible list for the position title, you do not need to respond to this posting unless you are also eligible for appointment by one of the qualifications listed above. Candidates must be reachable on the current eligible list for this title to be listed appointed.

Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. It is the policy of ITS not to hire F1 or H1 visa holders for permanent employment or to sponsor non‑immigrant aliens for temporary work authorization visas or for permanent residence.

Some positions may require fingerprinting. Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details of position(s) will be described further if you are selected for an interview.

If eligible, positions located in New York City will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay. Positions located in the Mid‑Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.
