Part-Time Parking Enforcement Officer

Pay rate is $18.18 an hour. This is a part‑time position and does not offer any benefits. Schedule is flexible and will be discussed during the interview. Saturdays may be required.

Responsibilities

Patrol assigned parking enforcement areas by walking or traveling in authorized vehicles, giving special attention to sidewalks, streets, and parking conditions.

Monitor the use and misuse of parking spaces, including time‑metered areas and other regulated spaces.

Issue and record tickets and summonses within the scope of authority conferred by the Chief of Police. Apply authorized parking enforcement actions such as vehicle booting or placing explanatory covers over meters.

Observe patrolled areas for suspicious activity, hazards, or potential risks, and report observations to dispatch by radio, telephone, or in writing.

Explain parking regulatory requirements to customers.

Present and transfer electronic and written records of violations; tag and transmit summonses to the collections clerk or other appropriate party.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED equivalent.

Proficient in operating handheld computer ticketing machines prior to the end of the probationary period.

Valid driver's license with no offenses that would prohibit bonding by a carrier or agent providing coverage to the City.

Required to complete pre‑employment screening, drug testing, and background check.

Physical Requirements Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions and in typical office and court environments that may not be handicap accessible. The role requires walking, jogging, and carrying equipment for up to four hours. Must be able to operate a handheld key‑entry electronic printer, reach across a vehicle hood to place tickets, and communicate in a courteous and professional manner with the public, including during difficult interactions.
