HR Coordinator Opportunity with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

Hours & Pay
Pay Rate:
$22.00 – $24.00 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 am‑5:00 pm
Employment Type:
Full‑time, temp‑to‑hire
The base pay range above represents the low and high end of the base compensation range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual base compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, actual experience, and job performance. Key Responsibilities
Deliver customer-focused, accurate HR support via phone, email, and in-person communication
Answer employee questions regarding policies and procedures; elevate as needed
Partner with HR leaders and managers on employee relations and compliance matters
Process department invoices, vendor payments, and expense submissions
Support onboarding and new-hire processes
Partner with Marketing & Communications to create materials for engagement, wellness, and employee programs
Process workers' compensation, auto/property claims, and maintain OSHA logs
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for Leaves of Absence
Assist with HR events, wellness challenges, surveys, and company-wide programs
Provide support to internal committees, including Events, Health & Wellness, and IDEA Council
Schedule and coordinate company trainings
Assist with HR projects, presentations, and benefit enrollment processes
Prepare reports and audit information for HR dashboards
Maintain and audit personnel files for accuracy and compliance
Provide backup support to front‑desk operations as needed
Perform additional duties as required based on business needs
Required Qualifications
3+ years of Human Resources experience (nonprofit or union environment preferred)
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of California employment and wage/hour laws
Highly organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and proactive
Exceptional interpersonal communication skills and strong emotional intelligence
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a service-first mindset
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and HRIS platforms such as Paychex or ADP
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and empathy
Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to its core values
Bilingual English/Spanish
Ability to commute between Food Bank facilities in Los Angeles and the City of Industry
Ability to work in both office and occasional field environments, with exposure to natural elements and periods of activity such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching
