Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced
Underground Foreman / Heavy Equipment Operator
who can also operate heavy equipment ranging from 10,000 lb to 50,000 lb excavators. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underground utility installation, excavation, and jobsite safety. This position requires both field leadership and hands-on equipment operation, along with the ability to read and interpret underground electrical drawings.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead underground crews on construction projects.
Operate excavators and other heavy equipment (10,000–50,000 lbs) for trenching, excavation, backfill, and related tasks.
Read and interpret underground electrical drawings, site plans, and utility layouts.
Ensure work is completed according to project specifications, safety standards, and local codes.
Coordinate daily work plans and communicate clearly with project managers and subcontractors.
Enforce and model safe work practices and OSHA-compliant job site protocols.
Complete required reports, documentation, and field logs accurately and on time.
Identify underground risks and implement best practices for safe trenching and excavation (sloping, shoring, shielding).
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in underground utility work and heavy equipment operation.
Proven ability to lead field crews and manage daily tasks.
Proficient in reading underground electrical drawings and construction plans.
Valid Operator’s License for Heavy Equipment.
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and underground safety protocols.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Silica Awareness / Ladder Safety
First Aid / CPR / AED Certification
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
