Assistant Store Manager – Family Dollar
Responsibilities
Assist the Store Manager with day‑to‑day store operations.
Provide positive, approachable customer service and address inquiries.
Organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor, maintaining seasonal areas.
Perform opening and closing procedures.
Execute all corporate directives including Pull & Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey requests, and other store communications.
Maintain the promotional effectiveness of store‑front fixtures and displays.
Assist with merchandise orders, damaged merchandise processing, record‑keeping (payroll, scheduling, cash deposits and receipts), and loss prevention.
Keep the sales floor well‑stocked and the stockroom organized to company standards.
Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
Enforce safety guidelines and ensure all associates follow company policies.
Support the Store Manager in supervising, training, and developing Store Associates.
Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with professional interactions.
Maintain store cleanliness (bathrooms, floors, trash removal, overall appearance).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives required.
Experience in retail, grocery, or drug store management preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment required.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills required.
Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills required.
