Job Summary: The Business Development Manager (BDM) will leverage industry knowledge and a strong network to cultivate new client relationships and expand market opportunities across our region. The BDM represents the McFarland brand, working both independently and collaboratively to achieve growth-focused objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leverage existing public-sector and corporate connections and expand the firm’s reach beyond existing contacts.
Represent McFarland at industry events, conferences, trade organizations, and community functions.
Schedule and host client entertainment (dinners, receptions, sporting events, etc.).
Engage in industry and community organizations to maintain visibility.
Support regional growth plans aligned with company strategy.
Collaborate with marketing, preconstruction, and operations teams on targeted opportunities.
Identify and qualify prospects, track pipeline, and coordinate follow‑ups.
Gather competitive intelligence and market insights to support proposal strategy, positioning, and client cultivation.
Promote McFarland through professional outreach, networking, and community involvement.
Provide reliable follow‑through and value-added communication to build long‑term relationships.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or Construction Management.
5+ years of business development, client relations, or sales experience within construction or related professional services.
Proven success executing strategic direction and working collaboratively with technical teams.
Track record of gathering and sharing market intelligence to support proposals and client strategy.
Willingness to travel throughout the footprint and surrounding markets.
Self‑starter who manages calendar and remains active in the market.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Reliable follow‑through and commitment to meeting targets and deadlines.
