ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY! The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Highways and Aviation/ M&O is looking for an Equipment Operator, Journey 1/2/3 Lead in King Salmon to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

SALARY INFORMATION Equipment Operator Journey 1: $31.62 / hourly - OT Eligible Equipment Operator Journey 2: $33.44 / hourly - OT Eligible Equipment Operator Lead/Journey 3: $35.53 / hourly - OT Eligible

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform airport and highway maintenance at a state maintenance station that includes a rural Part 139 certified airport.

Maintain state highways, airports, seaplane floats, bridges, and docks in a safe and fully operable condition for use by the traveling public.

Comply with all applicable Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and State of Alaska rules and regulations concerning maintenance and operation of highways and airports.

Use various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of the state of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure.

Use heavy equipment in a training capacity as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Obtain a Class A CDL within six months of hire for Journey 1 and a N-Tanker endorsement within 90 days for Journey 2 and 3.

At least 3 years of equipment operator experience on state highways and airports.

Strong knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road.

Problem solving skills, accurate eye‑hand coordination, and ability to make recommendations.

Ability to use a firearm or ammunition as required; meet firearms qualification requirements.

Pass drug screening and random drug and alcohol testing as required for CDL positions.

LOCATION The King Salmon Maintenance Station crew is located in King Salmon, Alaska. Crew operates and maintains the airport and highways year round under all conditions.
