Program Summary The KBR Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally in support of Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor, and other industries. Our services include management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, and AMS2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services.
Job Summary The Sr. Metrology Technician performs routine calibrations, tests, and inspections in‑lab or on‑site using accredited standards, and handles escalations and priority requests. The role requires fluency in calibration procedures, test and inspection processes, and hands‑on experience with setting up test equipment calibration systems. The technician may also assist entry‑level technicians.
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform calibration and certification of electronic and physical/dimensional measuring and test equipment according to technical specifications, ensuring traceability to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Calibrate and repair equipment such as multimeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, dimensional hand tools, and pressure devices.
Calibrate standards used in calibrations and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
Record maintenance activities in CMS, generate reports on test results, equipment conditions, repairs, and preventive maintenance, and prepare documentation as required by customer and regulatory requirements.
Interpret and create uncertainty budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2017.
Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating, and test equipment.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma with 7+ years of experience in the field, or associate’s degree in engineering technology or a relevant field with 5+ years of experience.
Working knowledge of voltage, current, resistance, capacitance, time and frequency, signal conditioning, blueprint documentation, dimensional tooling and hand tools, pressure controllers, load cells, etc.
Ability to interpret, validate, modify, and create uncertainty budgets in accordance with ISO 17025:2007.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Ability to travel to client locations to perform onsite service up to 75%.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
Experience in calibration of mass and weights, and/or the use of mass comparators.
