Sr. Metrology Technician RF
Program Summary The KBR Metrology team supports manufacturing, engineering & test, repair & overhaul, and aftermarket service centers globally in support of Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Medical, Safety, Semiconductor and other industries. We provide complete management of embedded metrology systems, calibration and repair, test & inspection, metrology engineering, preventive maintenance, NADCAP special process support, AMS2750 Heat Treat pyrometry services and more. Our teams work across the globe in KBR and customer embedded laboratories, onsite visits with field service operations and mobile laboratory platforms, ensuring high standards through calibration, preventive maintenance, automation and programming, calibration recall system management, and audit support. We track performance and delivery metrics via digital dashboards, customer surveys, and meetings to provide excellent customer experience.
Job Summary Sr. Metrology Technician is responsible for performing routine calibrations, tests and/or inspections in‑lab or on‑site using accredited standards. The role handles day‑to‑day escalations, priority requests, maintains traceability and calibration of laboratory standards, and may use automation. Knowledge and fluency in basic and advanced calibration, test, and inspection procedures, with hands‑on experience setting up advanced test equipment calibration systems, are required. The technician also reviews, validates, creates, and modifies calibration, test and inspection procedures, and creates uncertainty budgets per ISO 17025:2017. Support and training other technicians and report to principal technician or lab manager.
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform calibration and certification of advanced RF electronic measuring and test equipment, ensuring traceability to NIST.
Calibrate and repair equipment such as multimeters, data acquisition systems, data loggers, frequency counters, timers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, attenuators, directional couplers, signal analyzers, signal generators, waveform generators, power meters and power sensors.
Calibrate electrical standards and maintain equipment to established performance standards.
Record maintenance activities in CMS, generate reports, and prepare documentation required by customers and regulators.
Utilize common laboratory measuring, calibrating and test equipment.
Validate, modify and create calibration procedures from specifications and requirements.
Interpret and create uncertainty budgets per ISO 17025:2017.
Complete all other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
High school diploma with 10+ years of experience in the field, or an associate’s degree in engineering technology or a related field with 6 years of experience.
Working knowledge of low DC voltages, current, resistance, capacitance, RF time, frequency & power, time‑domain reflectance, signal conditioning, etc.
Ability to interpret, create and modify measurement uncertainty budgets per ISO 17025:2017.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Ability to travel to client locations for onsite service up to 75% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
Military/PMEL trained.
Experience with IndySoft, Fluke Met/Team, Fluke Met/Track, and Met/Cal systems.
Familiarity with laboratory measurement and calibration equipment.
Metrology standard lab experience.
