Park Field Technician Supervisor – City of Plano Full‑time, regular, located in the Parks and Recreation department. Salary: $30.65 – $45.97 per hour. Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:30 am–3:00 pm. This is a 100% on‑site position. Applicants must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check, and social security verification.

Job Summary We are seeking a hands‑on leader to oversee and actively participate in operations and maintenance across the City’s park system. The role involves daily supervision of technicians and the management of projects related to trail maintenance, plumbing services, signage, forestry operations, and contract work.

Responsibilities

Provide general supervision to assigned staff and contractors, conduct payroll entry, performance evaluations, and issue corrective and disciplinary actions.

Supervise all in‑house construction and renovation projects; coordinate multiple contractors and staff; evaluate quality, responsiveness, effectiveness, and efficiency.

Coordinate projects with other park staff and city departments to organize scheduled work activities.

Provide performance standards feedback and safety compliance requirements to multiple contractors, field supervisors and work groups.

Coordinate with Purchasing Department to enforce contract terms; write warnings and violation notices; recommend contract renewal, termination or re‑bids.

Procure supplies and equipment needed for projects.

Assist in design review and inspection of park‑related projects.

Maintain records of work orders, asset inventories and project inspections.

Enter data into the departmental service‑request work management system; maintain daily work reports.

Collect field data and conduct inspections to support the department’s asset‑management program.

Respond to customer concerns and inquiries; provide regular and consistent attendance.

Supervise personnel in maintenance, renovation, replacement and repair of electrical, plumbing, pool, signage and playground systems.

Supervise staff involved in the backflow prevention program; conduct meter verification, testing, certification and repair.

Assist in supporting and supervising department and city‑sponsored special events.

Provide emergency assistance to citizens or other city departments as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Education

– High school diploma or GED equivalent (or acceptable substitute experience).

Experience

– Four (4) years of experience in park infrastructure maintenance, repair and support, preferably including playgrounds, pools, electrical and plumbing systems; one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Knowledge & Skills

– Safety standards for playground structure and fall surfaces, construction methods, plumbing systems, electrical installation and maintenance, pool equipment repair, playground equipment repair, troubleshooting park equipment, effective verbal and written communication, data reporting, architectural and mechanical drawing interpretation.

Licenses & Certifications (Preferred)

– Valid Class C driver’s license (required); Certified Pool Operator, TCEQ Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester, Certified Arborist, Certified Playground Inspector.

Physical Demands

– Light to medium physical work, lifting up to 80 lb, frequent walking, operating hand and power tools, working in traffic or crowded areas, exposure to noise, temperature extremes, dust, vibration, etc. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 80 lb using proper equipment.
