Guides students from their initial inquiry through program completion; facilitates new student orientations; assists students in their career exploration and class selections; provides case management and assistance for targeted student populations and tracks program completion; and participates in community outreach events/activities.

Assists studentsin planningaprogramofstudy, interprets college-placementtest scores, andassesses students’ readinesstobegincollegelevel work.
Advises students inappropriate course selectionand instructs students in theonline registration process,utilizingvariousmodalities.
Identifies and resolves barriers tostudent successutilizing coaching principles.
Incorporateresearch-based retention andpersistence strategiesfor case managementofstudents at risk ofnon-completion.
Assists studentswithinitialcareer advisement, refers themto the College’s careerexploration tool,and guidesstudentstoappropriate career resources.
Recruits and conducts outreach activities to high school students and other college-bound individuals or groups.
As appropriate, servesasdualenrollmentadvisor withareapublic, privateandhomeschools.
Facilitates student orientations and campus tours.
Assists the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management with functions related to academic advising, such as, but not limited to testing, orientation, career assessment, transfer workshops, and other activities including high school and community outreach events.
Providesguidanceto studentsabout transfer requirements.Participatesand/or organizesannualTransferFair.
Assists the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs & Enrollment Management with community outreach and retention initiatives and related follow-up and reports.
Utilizesa widerangeof software andcomputer systemstotrackand analyze student progression andretention.
Represents the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in his or her absence, as assigned.
Works with the student information system to provide online academic advising assistance to students and keeps abreast of updates and enhancements of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system as they relate to advisors.
Assists in implementing theCollegeEquityPlan.
Communicates effectively with current and prospective students, community members and college staff adhering to privacy of student records requirements (FERPA).
Serves on College and Campus committees and participates in Campus activities as appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & REGISTRATIONS
Certification in the department’s advising model required by the end of the employment probationary period.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or related field from a regionally accredited institution and 2 years of experience in academic advising, student services, or higher education, strongly preferred.
