Engineering Manager – Security Incident Response Join the Security Incident Response team within Datadog’s Resilience Engineering organization. Our mission is to keep Datadog safe by preparing for, efficiently responding to, and learning from security‑related incidents. We build tools, automation, and processes that enable our engineers and stakeholders to focus on the right problems and measure our impact.

What You’ll Do

Lead and mentor a team of experienced incident responders passionate about building a culture of security and resilience at Datadog. Help engineers grow and continuously provide opportunities for development.

Serve as a hands‑on leader during incidents, making decisions under pressure and collaborating with multiple teams toward resolution. Participate in the secondary on‑call rotation and provide escalated support when needed.

Ensure the team triages alerts and signals in Datadog Cloud SIEM consistently and to a high level, partnering with the Threat Detection team to tune and calibrate signals that deliver value.

Build tools, systems, and processes to mature Datadog’s security incident response capabilities and measure operational effectiveness for stakeholders.

Lead post‑incident analysis so engineers learn from incidents, ensuring blameless and actionable post‑mortems and capturing follow‑up items that address systematic issues.

Partner with product management to provide feedback on features and champion improvement areas. Work with other security teams to develop strategies that prevent future incidents.

Who You Are

2–3 years experience as a people manager or technical leader with strong mentorship skills. Demonstrated career development, performance management, tracking and optimizing team velocity, OKRs, and hiring for diverse and inclusive teams.

3–5 years experience in incident response and large‑scale incident response programs with a focus on security‑related incidents and threats. Strong ownership and willingness to return Datadog to a stable state when failure occurs.

Technical pragmatism and ability to reason about trade‑offs; review decisions and RFCs from senior engineers, blending technical and business acumen.

Strong distributed systems knowledge and credibility to provide suggestions on post‑mortem analysis for customer‑facing infrastructure.

Excellent stakeholder‑management skills, using empathy, collaboration, and communication in English to work cross‑team and drive shared goals.

Datadog offers a competitive salary and equity package, which may include variable compensation. Compensation is based on skills, qualifications, and experience. Estimated yearly salary: $187,000 – $240,000 USD.
