Job Summary The childcare associate position requires staff to be experienced in providing care for infants and children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age. The staff must maintain a safe and clean environment as well as be interactive with all children. Interacts and greets members and guests who are entering the facility. Must possess strong communication skills and be willing to cross train to learn essential functions of Customer Service/Front Desk team.
Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Provide a safe and caring environment for children.
Require proper sign‑in and sign‑out to ensure child is leaving with parent or guardian.
Monitor toys for appropriate age group.
Discard hazardous toys.
Instruct all who enter to lock the door when coming in and leaving (to prevent child from leaving).
Maintain visual awareness of all children at all times.
Interact with all children in nursery and provide effective communication to parents.
Monitor and interact with age‑appropriate games and toys.
Engage and interact with children through activities such as arts & crafts, games, and music.
Establish healthy behaviors and environment by respecting toys, other children, and staff.
In the event no children are present, seek out supervisor for opportunities to assist with administrative work.
Greet and assist members, prospective members and guests, providing exceptional customer service.
Establish positive relationships with parents/guardians of children.
Maintain the reservation system and oversee the registration of new parents into the nursery.
Explain policies and procedures used in Kidz Place.
Provide parents with packets of information and have them return the signed acknowledgement.
Ensure check‑in supplies are stocked.
Notify supervisor when forms are running low, and supplies need to be ordered.
Sign up children who will be using the nursery services during each shift.
Follow reservation guidelines for proper ratio of child per team member.
Maintain proper sanitation and organization of Kidz Place.
Clean and sanitize toys at the end of the shift.
Stack chairs and store toys in proper areas.
Wipe down tabletops and chairs.
Take dirty towels to towel bins and remove soiled diapers in plastic bag to trash receptacle.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education High school student with experience Required or a high school graduate Required or GED from an accredited program. Required.
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s)
AHA‑HFA – AHA Heartsaver First Aid or BLS – Basic Life Support or BLS‑I – Basic Life Support – Instructor-Preferred
Required Minimum Experience Minimum 1 year of frequent babysitting in a formal setting, such as a child care center, church nursery, or frequent sitting for families (references needed). Required.
Required Minimum Skills Completion of class in early childhood development is strongly recommended.
