Logistics Manager Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the central point of contact for all warehouse logistics operations, including management of inbound/outbound materials, inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and quality control for a major program.

Lead and oversee a team responsible for material handling, inventory management, shipment verification, and warehouse quality assurance.

Establish and maintain effective communication with suppliers, carriers, internal project teams, and onsite operations to ensure materials meet quality standards and delivery timelines.

Travel to supplier or distribution facilities as needed to verify material readiness, inspect quality, and oversee logistics processes.

Review material specifications, procurement documentation, and project requirements to ensure alignment with warehouse and logistics processes.

Evaluate and update logistics workflows, receiving procedures, picking processes, packing standards, and material staging plans.

Manage and document inspections of inbound materials, including first‑article reviews, quality checks, discrepancy documentation, and resolution tracking.

Monitor and verify inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation activities, ensuring data integrity across systems.

Support issue resolution during material handling, storage, or distribution activities and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement corrective actions.

Oversee shipment readiness and create approval reports prior to dispatch, including reviewing deviations or exceptions for incomplete or nonconforming materials.

Track and report on logistics milestones including procurement status, production progress, shipping schedules, warehouse throughput, and inventory availability.

Create, distribute, and maintain all checklists, inspection reports, discrepancy logs, and warehouse performance documentation.

Coordinate with QA/QC, site operations, procurement, and trade partners to ensure all warehouse procedures support project schedule and quality expectations.

Implement tools, systems, and best practices that improve warehouse efficiency, accuracy, and safety.

Communicate key logistics or quality risks to leadership and support the development of mitigation plans.

Lead coordination meetings between warehouse operations, vendors, carriers, and onsite teams to ensure seamless material flow and integration with project needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management, business, or a related field AND 5+ years of experience in warehouse logistics, inventory management, or distribution operations.

OR high school diploma or equivalent AND 10+ years of experience in warehouse logistics, inventory management, or distribution operations.

Willingness to relocate to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Ability to travel to suppliers, manufacturing, or logistics facilities as needed.

Familiarity with large‑scale warehouse operations and the handling of high‑value or mission‑critical materials.

Experience with inventory management systems (WMS/ERP) and warehouse technology.

Ability to read and interpret material specifications, shipping documentation, inventory reports, and project logistics plans.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex logistics challenges.

Exceptional communication and time‑management abilities.
