Procurement Specialist - Packaging - Overland Park, KS Shape the future of our supply chain and make a direct impact on our product quality and cost management! You will own the supply, cost, quality, and service of our packaging materials, develop sourcing strategies, manage critical tools like SMI and Risk Management, and drive significant savings initiatives.

Responsibilities

Accountable for Purchasing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and collaborating with the entire Category Supply Chain.

Support effective negotiations for specific materials purchases.

Partner with suppliers’ sales, technical, and other functional groups, as well as Hill’s Supply Chain, Technology, Marketing and Finance functions to enforce purchasing policies, resolve issues, and align service and financial strategies.

Analyze and maintain large data sets to drive business decisions.

Develop sourcing strategies around risk mitigation, single source, and sustainability.

Provide input for "Top to Top" meetings when necessary.

Lead continuous improvement programs with suppliers (e.g., Supplier Certification, Continuous Improvement Teams).

Leverage SAP in day‑to‑day activities, entering prices and maintaining contracts and vendor information.

Support use of e‑tools (RFP, Ariba, etc.) to drive growth, simplification, and standardization programs.

Lead implementation of SMI with appropriate suppliers.

Maintain category budget and quarterly updates.

Improve personally through training, information sharing, coaching, feedback, and best practices.

Participate in external industry forums and internal purchasing meetings.

Develop documented understanding of market structure and drivers, manage risk, and identify opportunities and threats.

Interface with suppliers to prevent or resolve potential service and quality issues.

Develop new suppliers for packaging materials.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Business in a technical or business field, or a comparable discipline.

Minimum of 3 years in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Packaging Engineering.

Experience managing e‑tools (RFP, Ariba, etc.) or similar tools.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPM or CPSM).

Experience with SAP or another ERP system.

Knowledge of Google platforms.

Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $83,200 – $115,000 USD (based on experience, qualifications, and location). Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit‑sharing, and long‑term incentives.
