We are seeking an experienced Program Manager to work remote from Virginia Beach, VA area or onsite in our Kingsford, MI location with a willingness to travel as required.
The
Program Manager
(PM) position will serve as the company’s primary customer point of contact to ensure successful delivery of Trident’s service offerings and contractual obligations. PMs manage, coordinate, and communicate execution and oversight of individual contracts—monitoring price, cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction throughout the contract life cycle, from award through completion of the warranty period and formal project closure. Contracts will be primarily with US shipyards for government programs and North American commercial sectors of the marine market.
Key Responsibilities
Manage multiple projects concurrently and ensure the success of these projects.
Identify and assess risks across functional areas, resolve issues, and ensure a quality work product is delivered within budgets, on time, and according to requirements.
Customer Communication
Manage the customer throughout the project/program lifecycle, overseeing all communication related to pricing, scheduling, quality, and satisfaction. Build, develop, and grow the business/customer relationship.
Serve as liaison between the customer and accountable functional managers (engineering, planning, supply chain, production, etc.) for successful execution of the contractual requirements and scope.
Scope, Contract, and Cost Management
Oversee proposal/contract development, budget definition, and all direct charged costs.
Maintain thorough knowledge of scope of work, estimate content, contract duration, terms and conditions, risk assessment, and sales concessions.
Maintain compliance with the contract, including scope of work, specifications, and regulatory bodies.
Manage and report project financials—develop EACs, forecast ETCs, and invoicing against a baseline project plan. Monitor budgets to minimize costs and mitigate risks to financial performance.
Ensure approved contract adjustments are incorporated in the appropriate documents and budgets and disseminated to team members.
Execution and Monitoring
Overall responsibility for the project’s financial performance and performance of all functional team members executing the contract. Report directly to management regarding margin adjustments and profit/loss.
Plan and manage execution of contracts throughout the project life cycle—proposal, qualification, planning, monitoring, and closing stages.
Coordinate, communicate, and implement planned activities, monitoring progress against the schedule plan and working with the customer and project team to adjust schedules or activities as needed.
Coordinate and manage employees, subcontractors, and vendors executing contractual scope. Ensure cross‑functional actions/deliverables between engineering, procurement, production, and project management team members are completed successfully.
Maintain contractual communication records. Ensure Trident and ISO quality procedures are adhered to.
Qualifications 3–6 years of experience in project management, managing a program, portfolio, or projects that make up a program.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
Proven ability to interpret and monitor project schedules, financials, and deliverables.
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills; strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, and time‑management abilities.
Experience managing projects within Department of Defense (DoD) programs is preferred.
Experience in the maritime industry is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to respond professionally to inquiries from management and clients.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
Proven ability to prepare and deliver presentations, write reports, develop business correspondence, and create procedure manuals.
Proficient in performing financial calculations, including costs, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Strong aptitude for interpreting a variety of instructions provided in written, verbal, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project).
Ability to identify, analyze, and mitigate risks and problems effectively.
Strong time, resource, and budget management capabilities.
