Our client is seeking to add a Press Tech Production Supervisor to their team.
As a
Press Tech Group Leader , you will be essential in ensuring efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement of our stamping operations.
Location: Ripon, WI. Shift: 1st Shift, Monday‑Thursday 5:00 am‑3:00 pm. Flexibility for occasional Friday overtime.
Responsibilities
Technical Oversight
Optimize stamping production processes to meet company standards and customer requirements.
Apply tool and die knowledge to troubleshoot and implement solutions.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to enhance existing dies.
Leadership & Development
Foster a culture of servant leadership and mentor team members.
Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and commitment to excellence.
Conduct team meetings and one‑on‑one sessions for feedback and growth.
Process Optimization
Identify improvement opportunities and lead initiatives for efficiency.
Implement lean manufacturing and SMED to reduce die changeovers.
Monitor production metrics for data‑driven decisions.
Preventative Maintenance
Develop and oversee a preventative maintenance program for stamping equipment and tooling.
Document and track maintenance activities to avoid downtime.
Collaborate with maintenance teams for training and adherence.
SMED Implementation
Lead efforts to reduce die changeover times using SMED techniques.
Train shop‑floor personnel in SMED best practices.
Adjust approaches based on metrics and feedback.
Operational Excellence
Ensure compliance with safety standards and promote a safe environment.
Implement manufacturing best practices to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Collaboration & Communication
Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (safety, quality, tool room, maintenance).
Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Facilitate problem‑solving and decision‑making.
Interface with technical staff and union stewards on contractual issues.
Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations.
Project Management
Lead projects from conception to implementation, meeting timelines, budgets, and quality.
Develop project plans, allocate resources, and coordinate tasks across teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years in stamping or manufacturing with leadership and process optimization focus.
Strong knowledge of tool and die principles.
Proven experience implementing SMED and process optimization initiatives.
Servant‑leadership skills with history of developing high‑performance teams.
Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Skills & Abilities
Self‑driven, ambitious leadership capabilities including coaching and supervision.
Availability and flexibility to support team members across shifts, including weekends.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Proactive problem‑solving and encouraging team creativity.
Physical Requirements
Stooping, bending, standing for long periods, manual dexterity; ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 5 years in stamping or manufacturing with leadership and process optimization.
Strong press background in metal stamping.
Strong tool and die knowledge.
SMED experience and proven process optimisation delivery.
Servant‑leadership track record with high‑performance teams.
Nice To Have
1–3 years in a medium/high‑volume fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Additional SMED experience.
