At Schaefer Plastics, we manufacture industry‑leading solutions and drive responsible practices toward a sustainable future for generations to come. Founded in 1937, we are deeply committed to delivering exceptional customer care through high‑quality, innovative waste and packaging solutions. Our customers and their satisfaction are paramount to our business; we strive to understand their needs and exceed their expectations at every turn.
We are a global injection molding manufacturer, producing durable waste and recycling carts, and pioneering reusable packaging systems that reduce carbon footprints. Our dynamic and inclusive culture fosters personal and professional growth, making us an ideal employer for career advancement.
About the Role We are seeking a hands‑on, detail‑driven Quality Inspector who takes pride in ensuring parts meet specifications the first time, every time. In this role, you will be the first line of defense against defects: assessing incoming materials, supporting production with in‑process inspections, and ensuring every shipment leaving our facility meets customer and ISO quality standards.
*Shifts are either 7 p.m.‑7 a.m. or 7 a.m.‑7 p.m., 7 days a week.
If you enjoy problem solving, working with measurement tools, and playing a key role in product reliability and customer satisfaction, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
Inspect and verify the quality of incoming materials, parts in production, and outgoing products before shipment.
Use inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify part dimensions and functional performance against drawings and work instructions.
Identify, label, and control non‑conforming materials in the designated Quality Hold area.
Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and written instructions with accuracy and clarity.
Document test results and inspection findings with complete and precise reporting.
Work closely with production, warehouse, shipping, and engineering to resolve issues and prevent rework or scrap.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and help influence quality decisions on the shop floor.
Support additional shift coverage, as required, to ensure Quality resources are available (with notice and supervisor approval).
Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management.
Preference given to those with:
High School Diploma or GED required; quality certification preferred.
Minimum 2 years of Quality Control/Inspection experience in manufacturing.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, measurements, and technical drawings.
Proven skill using common quality and measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.).
Strong documentation, accuracy, and math/measurement skills.
Working knowledge of MS Office (Word/Excel) and ability to learn digital tools.
Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and roll up to 500 lbs.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
Willingness to support any shift as needed (overtime/coverage).
This role fits someone who:
Loves digging into and verifying the facts.
Is calm, professional, and collaborative—even when something is out of spec.
Is confident using measuring tools.
Cares about doing things the right way every time, not the fast way.
Why Join Our Team
You will impact product quality directly.
You will work in a growing, stable manufacturing environment.
Your work matters—our customers rely on the products you approve.
Real opportunities to grow into advanced inspection, auditing, or quality technician roles.
