Manulife Primary role is oversight and direction of day-to-day operations at the ranch. This is an essential part of our team, who works in collaboration with Ranch Manager and Area Manager to ensure the overall care and maintenance of the ranch. The ideal candidate will lead and carry out daily farm activities with the assistance of FLC crew in a safe and efficient manner. Position Responsibilities
Individual Responsibilities (65%)
Oversee, communicate, and direct farm employee(s) and crews in a positive way to succeed and produce results. Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed. Maintain and follow safe work practices. In collaboration with Ranch Manager, assist in the direction and coordination of the overall operations of the ranch including maintenance, irrigation, pesticide application, and harvesting. Provide leadership to FLC crew(s) and directing them to ensure completion of necessary tasks using a safe and efficient approach. Inspect and observe fields to determine upcoming jobs such as cultivation, irrigation, harvesting, and spray applications according to time of year. Identify and communicate potential opportunities to improve efficiency of all work activities. Report all safety, compliance, or any other issues immediately to Ranch Manager. Train personnel in work procedure, safety policies, and the use of machinery. Accurate record keeping of equipment maintenance, pesticide inventory, and irrigation. Report to management daily to determine cost per acre of ongoing activities. Perform all other duties as assigned. Shared Responsibilities (35%)
Work in collaboration with Ranch Manager and Area Manager to carry out daily tasks in an efficient manner, with assistance provided by the FLC crew. Report to Ranch Manager daily to assist to the best of ability in creation of daily/weekly and monthly plan. Communicate daily with FLC Foreman to execute daily task in an efficient and safe manner. Required Qualifications
Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in farm labor, preferably in tree crops. High School Diploma or GED required or 4 years of firsthand experience. Solid understanding of farm functions and procedures. Knowledge of irrigation systems, spray and pruning. Valid CA driver license and insurable with the company’s insurance carrier. Private Applicator Certificate or ability to obtain one. Effective communication skills, both electronic and verbal. Critical thinking, decision making, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to travel between ranch locations. Ability to lift 50+ pounds. Capable of working a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Basic computer skills. Previous work experience with equipment operation safety, maintenance, and basic repair. Follow all safety rules and regulations, performing work assignments in accordance with company manuals.
