The Defense Program Manager will lead complex large scale military or defense projects, overseeing everything from research and development to acquisition, ensuring goals (cost, schedules, performance) are met. They act as visionaries, managing cross functional teams, stakeholders, and resources, balancing technical challenges with leadership to deliver critical defense systems and support strategic initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Oversight: Plan, execute and manage large defense program portfolios
Team Leadership: Guide teams (engineers, contractors, government) and foster collaboration
Resource Management: Marshal budgets, personnel and resources for program success
Strategic Alignment: Ensure programs support broader military objectives and deliver to warfighters
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical, schedule and performance risks
Acquisition: Manage the complex development, procurement and fielding of defense systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Aerospace and Defense contract oversight experience
Strong understanding of program management methodologies
Technical background
Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement
Ability to balance big-picture strategy with day-to-day execution
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in related field
