Supplier Quality Manager

Automotive Supplier and New Markets

Blacksburg, VA (onsite)

Salary: $130,000-$140,000 base

Focused on Domestic and Global Markets

50% Travel, Midwest Domestic with Occasional International

Overview We are looking for a process‑oriented and hands‑on supplier quality leader with over 5+ years of experience. You will stabilize current suppliers, resolve complaints fast, and stand‑up new supplier capability using AIAG Core Tools and structured problem‑solving (8D, 5 Whys, Red X).

Must Haves / Mandatory

Non‑siloed, hands‑on supplier quality leadership; process‑driven with urgency.

Automotive or adjacent manufacturing supplier quality experience.

8D, 5 Whys, Red X problem‑solving practice.

Comfortable with 50% Travel (mostly domestic with a few times a year globally).

Nice to Have / Preferred

IATF / ISO / TS 16949 auditing; ASQ / RAB or IATF Lead Auditor.

Strong command of AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, SPC).

Experience supporting new markets (e.g., India) and PTR / new product readiness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in Engineering / Business or 10+ years of relevant experience.

5+ years manufacturing experience with proven Supplier Quality outcomes.

Demonstrated success leading audits, PPAP approvals, and multisite supplier development.

Working knowledge of SPC / Six Sigma; confident engaging suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

Stabilize existing suppliers: lead corrective actions; verify root cause and effectiveness.

Run audit cadence and scorecards; prioritize and close actions with Purchasing / Quality.

Lead AIAG Core Tools adoption (PFMEA, Control Plans) and PPAP reviews/approvals.

Resolve complaints quickly; communicate status to plants / customers; prevent recurrence.

Enable new market launches: ensure specs/tests/certs; oversee PTR readiness.
