The Assistant Engineering Manager will manage day‑to‑day operations of the Engineering Department, reporting to the Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities include overseeing capital and M&R projects, ensuring professional engineering standards, and providing leadership to engineering staff.
Responsibilities
Guide engineering activities to meet professional standards and Code requirements.
Plan and develop new improvement projects with the Engineering Manager and operations teams.
Analyze equipment cost of operations, identify improvement areas.
Design, estimate, bid, and prepare construction documents for factory projects.
Supervise the Engineering Department, including employee supervision, budget control, and scheduling.
Support other company departments as required.
Investigate new equipment from suppliers and present findings.
Approve design and equipment selection in collaboration with plant and maintenance managers.
Manage subordinate engineering staff and mentor their professional development.
Stay updated on industry developments and apply new technologies.
Communicate policies, safety, and environmental requirements orally and in writing.
Train, assign, supervise, and evaluate assigned employees.
Travel for conferences, training, and meetings as needed.
Provide engineering counsel to senior managers on maintenance and operating activities.
Represent the company in professional and trade associations.
Maintain effective communication and coordination between Engineering and other departments.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in factory operations and related engineering fields.
Valid driver’s license required.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; non‑PE candidates encouraged to pursue licensure.
Strong knowledge of engineering systems in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with standard engineering and system design practices.
Proficiency with engineering technology and computer tools.
Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
