Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. is located in the Village of West Jefferson, OH, just minutes from the western suburbs of Columbus and about 20 minutes west of downtown. This greenfield project produces high‑quality protein shakes serving people around the world. We remain committed to our employees, community, and environment.

Responsibilities This is a great opportunity to serve as a member of the site leadership team for our manufacturing facility in West Jefferson, OH. The facility is nearly 100% automated or electrically driven; the ideal candidate will be a subject‑matter expert in this area. Knowledge of Tetra Pak and/or Aspetic is preferred.

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for safely leading and directing all plant reliability and maintenance activities. Responsibilities include utilities operation, execution of capital projects, maintaining equipment and facilities in optimum condition, and managing within an approved annual budget. The role requires compliance with safety work rules, reinforcing safety as a core value, and ensuring adherence to Food Safety & Quality policies and procedures. Availability to work scheduled times, weekends, and holidays is required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for all plant maintenance, including facilities, utilities, and operations to reduce downtime and assure peak plant efficiencies.

Partner with MFI Engineering on capital engineering design and implementation of projects, coordinating and delivering multiple projects safely and efficiently.

Manage maintenance or project contractors onsite, ensuring safety, food safety, and plant GMP requirements.

Lead department team members to continuously improve personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost to achieve company objectives. Engage and develop the asset care teams to deliver expected levels of reliability.

Assist with planning and cost estimates for annual and longer‑term capital and operating budgets to deliver on the business plan.

Investigate the condition of buildings, equipment, and grounds, recommending improvements to meet business needs.

Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support maintenance reporting and decision making.

Oversee all maintenance department metrics, balancing tactical and strategic initiatives aligned with plant business strategies.

Adhere to MFI standards for assessing the quality of work performed by employees and contractors.

Create and foster a team environment that supports personal and professional development through the MFI ARMED program.

Coordinate and partner with corporate stakeholder groups to build and maintain programs and processes consistent with MFI standards.

Promote, and foster, Michael Foods culture, values, and principles.

Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors and ensuring a safe, healthy workplace.

Adhere to quality work practices, follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is maintained.

Ensure required regulatory compliance at all times.

Participate in talent acquisition within the maintenance organization, including interviewing, recruiting, and selecting salaried and hourly team members.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field is preferred; an associate’s degree, two‑year technical certificate, or a relevant combination of experience may also qualify.

Demonstrated leadership experience.

Minimum of 5 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in industrial operations, maintenance, or utilities operations (preferred).

Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.

Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred.

Training and competency in MFI MTL1, MTL2, & MTL3 skills preferred.

Experience in industrial project management preferred.

Prior experience with SAP preferred.

Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, superb time management, and project scheduling skills.

Ability to lead teams and hold team members accountable while achieving results through internal and external resources.

Excellent administrative and follow‑up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs.

Physical Requirements The employee must regularly talk and listen, stand and walk, occasionally sit, use hands to finger, handle, and feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste and smell. The employee should occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision and sensory requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
